We believe that education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's about fostering a love of learning and developing the whole child. Inspired by the pioneering work of Dr. Maria Montessori, our approach is founded in respect, independence and the natural curiosity of each child.
Montessori education is designed for children aged six weeks to eighteen years and emphasises hands-on learning experiences, allowing students to explore concepts at their own pace. Our carefully prepared environments encourage children to engage in self-directed activities, fostering critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.
We recognise that every child is unique, with individual interests, strengths and learning styles. Our dedicated educators observe and guide each child's development, ensuring that they receive personalised support and opportunities that inspire their passion for learning. By promoting independence and responsibility, we prepare students not just for academic success but also for life beyond the classroom.
Montessori education empowers children to become adept at seeking information, organising their thoughts and collaborating in a non-competitive atmosphere. They learn to view their peers and adults as valuable resources, fostering a willingness to ask questions and embrace challenges. Montessori students take ownership of their learning journeys, developing the skills necessary for deep exploration of subjects.
ISMS invites you to join a supportive, inclusive community that values diversity and fosters a culture of respect, compassion, and harmony. From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice our unique approach. No school uniforms, classrooms enriched with specialised Montessori learning materials, and a teaching philosophy that emphasises guidance over traditional instruction. It’s a welcoming, positive environment that feels like an extended family, dedicated to nurturing a peaceful and engaging learning experience.
Every student learns differently, so we take time to understand each student individually to tailor our approach to their learning style. Our NESA-accredited Class Directors implement a variety of carefully curated academic activities that align with individual learning needs. Spacious classrooms with inclusive layouts are designed to foster a sense of openness and continuity throughout the school. Class Directors circulate among the students during class cycles, observing and providing guidance as needed, creating a supportive environment where students feel safe and confident, free from fear of judgement or discomfort among peers.
A real sense of community
The sense of community is palpable from the moment you step into the school. Our inclusive and supportive environment fosters a culture of respect, compassion, and harmony, making everyone feel like part of an extended family. With no school uniforms and classrooms enriched with specialised Montessori learning materials, students and educators alike embrace a unique approach that prioritises guidance over traditional instruction. This nurturing atmosphere encourages students to view their peers and adults as valuable resources, promoting collaboration and mutual respect. The multi-age classrooms and three-year learning cycles further enhance this sense of community, as older students mentor younger ones, creating a family-like environment that supports both academic and social development. ISMS is dedicated to nurturing a peaceful and engaging learning experience, where every child feels valued and connected.
Our learning environment
Our classroom environment enables students to progress at an individualised pace, fostering both independence and teamwork. This approach provides a great opportunity for academic advancement and extended learning. As they grow, students develop the ability to critically reflect on their work and adjust their perspectives on tasks, cultivating a deeper sense of integration and accomplishment.
One of the standout features of our school is its multi-age classrooms and three-year learning cycles. This distinctive aspect of Montessori education allows students to engage with a broader range of skills and interests, experiencing a well-rounded academic and holistic curriculum beyond the scope of a single-year class structure. Our educators frequently express that one of the most fulfilling aspects of their role is witnessing students' growth in confidence as they progress through their three-year cycle, evolving into mentors and role models for younger peers. This structure not only builds a strong sense of accomplishment in older students but also offers younger students a nurturing and supportive environment. The multi-year cycle fosters a family-like atmosphere that promotes a sense of belonging, positively impacting both academic and social development
