The Infant Community encompasses our Parent and Child Program and our Transition to Children’s House Program designed for children under three years of age. During this period, children are actively exploring the world through their senses, developing communication skills, and building independence. They are also in the sensitive period for movement and order, making this stage foundational for their overall development. Movement supports physical coordination and independence, while a strong sense of order helps them make sense of the world, build security, and develop confidence in their surroundings.
While both programs serve the Infant Community, they offer distinct experiences. The Parent and Child Program is an educational opportunity for parents, where they attend alongside their child. Guides provide support, practical strategies, and insights to help navigate this important developmental stage. The Transition to Childen's House Program is the child’s first independent experience in a school setting. It lays the groundwork for their Montessori journey, fostering confidence and essential skills in a nurturing environment, easing their transition into the Children’s House when they turn three.
ISMS is an independent school based in Sydney that delivers authentic Montessori education to children from birth to 12 years of age with a commitment to the Montessori philosophy.
